The focus on promoting science and research demonstrates the Ingeborg Suhr Foundation’s deep commitment to addressing important societal challenges. Because only those who know, only those who know very precisely, can significantly and strategically bring about change and transformation. This was the founder’s conviction. From this she drew her commitment.
Alzheimer Project
With the Alzheimer project “Symphonic Bridges,” the foundation is dedicating itself to a core
concern of the founder: combating Alzheimer’s and improving the quality of life of people
living with dementia, their relatives, and caregiving staff.
“When words fail, music speaks,” is the motto of the initiative “Symphonic Bridges” of the
Ingeborg Suhr Foundation, launched in cooperation with the Alzheimer Society Hamburg e.V. and
the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. Small classical concerts tailored to specific needs are
brought into facilities for people living with dementia. Because music touches people with
dementia at all stages of the illness. Research shows this very clearly.

University Funding
The establishment of the endowed professorship for Digital Integrated Process Management in 2017
at the HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) in cooperation with the Ingeborg Suhr Foundation
made a valuable contribution to digitalization in the field of architecture and construction.
With a focus on “Building Information Modeling” (BIM), a forward-looking and highly relevant
topic was promoted that not only drives digital transformation in the industry but also
ensures more sustainable and efficient planning and execution of construction projects.
Following the retirement of Prof. Daniel Mondino in summer 2025, after eight years of
leadership in BIM, the foundation will focus on new areas of commitment, currently developing
new research and education initiatives.
